Introduction to Backflow Awareness is a non-certification class.
This 8-hour Introduction to Backflow Awareness course delivers foundational knowledge on cross-connection hazards and the vital role of backflow prevention in protecting public health. Participants will explore the history, purpose, and real-world applications of common backflow prevention assemblies, including key differences between backpressure and backsiphonage. The course also introduces essential pressure concepts, water column principles, and basic PSI and feet-of-head conversions used in the field. Safety protocols, system reliability, and regulatory awareness based on the Uniform Plumbing Code are reinforced throughout. This class equips journeymen and service technicians with practical awareness and clear next steps toward advanced backflow training.
JUT Credit Eligibility
This class is eligible for up to 8 JUT hours.
JUT hours applied depend on the member’s current JUT status and hours.
